Artist Blog

Hello, men, women and others.

Welcome to this week’s artist blog. Every week we hope to post an artist blog to show a couple of interesting art assets that may or may not make it into the final version of Through the Woods. These could be character models, environments, concept art, monsters, objects in the game world, and so on.

Here’s this week’s artist blog fix:

Hello there! This week we are not actually showing anything from Through the Woods, but rather from our gamejam game, Ohminous. The gamejam is called NM i Gameplay (Norwegian Championship in Gameplay, roughly translated), and is a ten-day long, government funded gamejam that takes place every January in Norway.

Each year, on January 1st, while the rest of the world are passed out in the blissful hours before the headache begins, the Norwegian Film Institute release the theme of the gamejam. This year’s theme is ‘Resistance’. So we basically have to make a game that contains a theme of resistance. I suppose this could be political resistance, resisting arrest, antibiotic resistance, etc. It seems at Antagonist, we are making a game based around electrical resistance.

I have been away in Copenhagen for a few days so have not had much interaction with the game, (I’m doing the audio, more on that tomorrow) but this is what I’ve gathered so far;

So, in our game you play as E. Lectron, a chosen one in the rank of electrons to lead the resistance against Resistance. You must solve puzzles and save the electrons on your path towards finding and getting rid of the evil Dr. Daniel Ohm. The electrons you save will help you trigger mechanics and functions (puzzles) to open up pathways to other components in a computer.

Ok, that’s it for this week’s artist blog. Check back next week for some more arty bits and pieces and to see how we did in the gamejam. Have a great week!

Dan.
